The Velas Wallet is the project's own non-custodial wallet. According to the official site it is multi-currency, supports staking, and is available on mobile, desktop and web. This review sticks to what the project states and what you can verify yourself; we have not hidden any tests behind marketing language.
What it offers
- Holding and sending VLX on both the native and EVM sides.
- Delegated staking from within the app.
- Support for other assets listed in the app.
- Connection to the broader Velas products such as Vault and Account.
Setting it up
- Get the link from the official wallet page, never from a search ad or message.
- Create a wallet and write the recovery phrase on paper.
- Confirm the phrase when prompted and add any password or biometric lock.
- Send a small amount first and check it on the explorer.

Staking from the wallet
Choose a validator, enter an amount and confirm. The wallet creates a stake account tied to that validator. Rewards accrue per epoch and the displayed estimate changes with the network. Unstaking is not instantaneous; funds become available after the deactivation period. Our staking guide and validators page give the process and selection tips.
Strengths
It is the most direct route to native features, it removes the need to understand stake accounts manually, and it is maintained by the same team as the chain.
Cautions
Confirm the app's current store listing, last update date and recent user reviews. A wallet that has not been updated for a long time can carry unpatched risk. Keep only what you need in a hot wallet.
The wallet is software running on your device. Malware on that device can threaten any software wallet. For larger balances, see the hardware option in best VLX wallets.
Daily use and checking your balance
Once the wallet is installed, build a habit of verifying important actions on an explorer instead of trusting only the app. After sending, copy the transaction identifier and look it up on the matching explorer, the EVM explorer for 0x-style addresses and the native explorer for the other side. If your balance seems wrong, check that you are looking at the right representation of your account, since the same funds can appear under different address formats. Before sending anything large, copy the recipient address, compare the first and last characters on the screen, and make sure the network matches.
Keep the app updated from the official source, and be careful about prompts to enter your recovery phrase to fix a problem. A genuine wallet never needs it after the initial setup, other than when restoring on a new device.
Verdict
For staking and everyday use of VLX, the official wallet is the logical starting point. For large holdings, add a hardware device or split funds. As always, test with a small amount.
One more point is documentation. Because we have not audited the wallet's code, we cannot claim anything about its internal security beyond what the project states. If this matters to you, read the project's published materials, look for independent reviews, and treat the absence of an audit report as a reason for caution with larger amounts.
